Happy new year everyone from GHOSTIE!
I have been away but not inactive! I wanted to start the new year talking about what I’ve been up to, but specifically talk about my photobooth work and events here in Los Angeles. GHI was born from a passion to connect with the people in my communities and provide an interactive experience for all to enjoy, leaving the event with unforgettable memories.

Who runs GHI?

GHI is run by myself, GHOSTIE GHOST (GHOSTIE for short), a queer trans LA born artist with Central American roots. GHOSTIE has been making art since childhood and has been known by their peers for 1) being good at many things, 2) being a friendly sociable person, and 3) actively exercising their creative gifts. GHOSTIE has actively chosen the path or the artist since then and has never given up this creative spirit. GHOSTIE tambien habla espanol y espere a conocer gente como yo! GHOSTIE graduated from CSULA in 2018 with a B.A. in Animation while minoring in Women and Gender Studies. During their time at CSULA GHOSTIE participated in many events around campus, such as the group art show “POST” at the Luckman Fine Arts Complex to supplement their educational experience. During this time GHOSTIE was also actively employed at H&M for about 4 years in order to fund their educational quest. This very rigorous experience culminated into a senior thesis film about youth and self exploration while also dealing with toxic coping mechanism, staring GHOSTIE’s original character “Rhubarb” from their fictional LA-inspired world.

After graduating from CSULA, GHOSTIE worked as a graphic designer from 2018 until 2020 for a Japanese based hobby company. It was during that time that GHOSTIE really solidified their art, design, and administrative skills. Starting out as both graphic designer and part of the order fufilment team, GHOSTIE was soon promoted to Social Media Manager, Inventory/Warehouse Manager, and Product Photographer. With these various skills & experience, GHOSTIE decided to seek new opportunities.

During the 2021-2023 years GHOSTIE spent time contracted at an out of state Photobooth company operating in LA. It was through this work where all of GHOSTIE’s professional skills culminated into a cohesive and unique experience. GHOSTIE started out as a Photobooth Attendant, moved up to Lead Attendant, eventually ending up as the Regional Manager and Inventory Manager. By that point GHOSTIE had explored various communities and venues in Los Angeles and developed a sense of comfort no matter the context. Old and young alike, GHOSTIE was one with the people of Los Angeles County. With all the memories made GOLDEN HOUR IMAGING was born.

What is GHI?

Golden Hour Imaging (GHI) is GHOSTIE’s photobooth service located in Los Angeles, California, one that serves the general LA county, and aims to grow into THE event experience for Angelenos from all walks of life.
What makes GHI different from other photobooth experiences is that it offers quality photography at an accessible price. The hope is to document the true experience of what it means to live and party in the City of Angels and Dreams.

Additionally, the GHI experience understands that our digital life IS as important as the physical world. GHOSTIE, through their work as GHI, documents each event with care by getting to know the gracious hosts and their community. The 2025 goal and beyond is to produce articles based on the experience and atmosphere of each event, creating a sort of catalogue of memories. Contemporary life in Los Angeles is unique and by offering both quality photoprints (physical) AND a digital album for each event GHI is able to help solidify our shared presence on this planet.

When did GHI begin?

GHI as a concept was born in 2022 after spending a few months working for a photobooth company with a branch in LA. Two years after the lockdowns from the global COVID-19 pandemic, socializing was no longer the same and felt like it needed to be done with purpose. Carefree days of experiencing the world without much care were gone for most and in were the days of generating memories selectively.

GHOSTIE sought out the socializing experience through work, learning about different communities in the process. Through this work GHOSTIE was able to help their immediate community in the ensemble that is Los Angeles, and together we Make Memories Today [this is the GHI ethos]. Grounding these dreamy aspirations is the fact that life is not a guarantee, every day we spend alive with others is the truth and should be considered a blessing.
Where is GHI?

GHI is based in Los Angeles city and operates out of an office. GHI serves the general Los Angeles County area, from North Hollywood all the way down to Long Beach. Not to say that GHOSTIE/GHI wont venture to the neighboring counties such as Ventura and Riverside as was done in the past, but while this solo adventure develops GHOSTIE/GHI generally stays close to home. With some additional planning GHI will travel anywhere in California and hopefully to other states in America.

GHI can be found on Instagram where event photos are posted and documented. Full length articles about events will be posted on this site in the future.
Why is GHI important?

Life can be tough, but making memories and providing a great experience doesn’t have to be. We live in a world where we constantly feel watched, judged, and as if we have to put on a mask when interacting with others. GHI seeks to do away with these societal expectations and promote a relaxed environment where guests can express themselves as authentically possible.

GHI serves the general LA public, however special consideration is awarded to events with a focus on the LGBTQ+ community. Regardless of the package booked guests always leave the booth with a smile. Guests are encouraged to act naturally with their friends and family, shame and judgement does NOT exist at this photobooth nor is it welcomed!
