🪞 Reflection:
What a joy it is to experience the warmth of the summer!

This particular image was inspired by the track “Swinging Party” by Kindness (later I found out that it was an original track by The Replacements).

When I was about 19 my best friend and I moved out of our home to begin our journey of Adulthood and Independance. Our move was messy and we had almost no clue what we were doing; we were only a year and a half out of High School and just starting our college educations.

In the new environment we experienced many things, one of them being the “Party Atmosphere”. Lights, music, booze and snacks, it felt like being a kid but a decade older and with a bunch of peers. As someone who grew up indoors it did feel a little overwhelming to be around so many new people! However, the experience is one that definitely contributed to growth, being social is one skill that everyone could benefit from.

One of the events we all organized was a trip to the beach. Its pretty common in California for residents along the coast to travel to the oceanside for relaxation. I remember we had a barbeque, a pit fire, and lots of jello shots. We all basked in the sun, played along the wet sand, and listened to a curated playlist off of someone’s phone.

I have always had a hard time relaxing and being in the moment but for a brief time I was able to connect with the Summertime atmosphere. A great pleasure is the feeling of sunshine, the oceanic winds, and sand between my toes.
