I’ve certainly developed a style… But still I wanna push it more to be even more unique.

Anyways, enjoy this very drawn out doodle/zelda fanart. I draw a lot of link but never zelda. Tbh
w/o her there’s no zelda.
.
And also? I just love her so much? The fact that she gender bent as beautiful androgynous Sheik in OoT really affected me growing up. Like I thought damn, I wanna have magic powers to change my body at will.
.
I started on feb 29 at about 5pm and finished on mar 1 at 3am. In between I got a visit from @sagfur_ today :’) thanks for coming over n hanging out n hear me nerd out about art n video games ❤

The only reason I call this a doodle is cuz I drew it w the intent to practice. But even then I think its really pretty and I like all the work I put into it.

Thanks 💘

🪞 Reflection:

I’ve been a big fan of the Zelda series since I was a child in the early 2000s when I first played Ocarina of Time. However, in all my time of being a fan I had not once drawn Zelda herself. I had drawn Link, Dark Link, Vaati, Saria, and various others, but never the princess. I decided to do her some justice in the year 2020.

I was about 2 weeks post top surgery and I had a lot more time to myself than I was used to. I spent a majority of my time catching up on shows, drawing, eating better, sleeping more, and I had all the colors I could have ever asked for as a child. When I started drawing I could not stop, I had to finish it all the way through. It was an old habit of mine that I have since tamed more or less.

I had called this piece a doodle because the intent on drawing this started out very rough in my mind. I had the vague idea of drawing a portrait, in color, a classic angle, and a very vague expression. Another thing about doodles is that they are typically considered unfinished works, they’re like pieces or different angles of a whole project. They are an idea that is changing from moment to moment. A doodle is something that shows history, all the different marks.

When I was drawing this piece I had started with the head shape, then laying a basic angled shape where the eye plane is, followed by rough mass shapes for the neck and shoulders. It’s a little humorous to me that the more I look at I can see it as a flat yet sculptural image. Sort of like an embossed image.

When I look at old art I tend to feel the urge to rework the piece and produce an update based on what I’ve learned since. There might be a reworking of this image in the near future with updated techniques.
